Grants
Sutton Arts Council receives a grant from the local council, from which it is able to give a limited number of modest grants to members (and sometimes non-members). Amounts given are generally between £100 and £500. On occasion it will also give loans.
The criteria for awarding grants are based on the aim of promoting the development and enjoyment of arts within the borough. One-off grants are favourably considered to support such things as:
- An innovative venture by a new or existing group
- Collaboration between organisations
- Celebration of major society anniversaries.
Grants are unlikely to be given for:
- Items falling directly within the local council remit
- Events raising money for charity (although we would consider underwriting a small loss on such events)
- Ongoing running expenses
- Repetitive annual expenditure
- Commercial ventures.
